Most massage and bodywork table treatments are traditionally performed with the client unclothed and draped however, you may decide to disrobe to your own comfort level. You will be properly draped at all times.
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet.
The average massage session or treatments last approximately one hour. You have a choice of 60 mins , 75mins, or 90min sessions.
Make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Some people choose to tune out distraction. Others like to talk during their massage or bodywork. During your session there may be communication necessary to discuss treatment focus. Feel free to ask the practitioner questions about massage and bodywork in general or about the particular technique you are receiving.
Most people feel relaxed and energetically renewed after their session. You will experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity, which can last for days. Aftercare and recommendations will be made by your therapist post treatment and may include recommendations like stretching, hot/cold use and a treatment plan.
Your comfort level and privacy is of our utmost concern. You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on individually will be uncovered.
You and the practitioner will discuss the desired outcome of the treatment. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. Before your session, your therapists will ask you if you want a treatment targeted focus to specific areas of pain or tension solely or a full body treatment will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, gluts and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals (male or female) or breasts (female).
We use a top quality non-paraben and all organic ingredient product. A light lotion may be used to allow the muscle to be worked without causing excessive friction to the skin. The lubricants used should hydrate the skin and will readily absorb without concern of feeling greasy there after. If you have sensitive skin or skin allergies please tell your practitioner.
It depends on the techniques used. In clinical style and deep tissue massage your session will include varying degrees of deep pressure within the client’s comfort level. In a relaxation massage, your session will start with broad, flowing stokes which will help to calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your muscles becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.
Before you begin your first session, you will need to fill out a heath intake form. Your practitioner will ask you some general health questions. It’s very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under doctors’ care, or experiencing an acute injury, it is strongly recommended that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to any treatment.
